What’s happening?
GEON has been appointed as the new centre manager for Paradise Garden Shopping Village in Thornlands, Brisbane’s east.
The neighbourhood shopping centre is owned by Nerinda Pty Ltd ATF Paradise Trust. It sits within the Redlands region of South East Queensland, around 30 kilometres from the Brisbane CBD.
GEON will provide property management, facilities management, financial and accounting management, leasing, and marketing coordination.
Paradise Garden Shopping Village recently celebrated its second anniversary since opening. The centre is located on the corner of Boundary Road and Panorama Drive, on the former site of the well-known Round Shop.
According to architects Cottee Parker, the centre’s design pays respect to that local history. Its circular plaza reflects the old Round Shop memory, while the wider layout includes specialty retailers, food outlets and shaded gathering spaces.
GEON will take over as the new property management team from July 1.
Why it matters?
The appointment brings a new management team into a growing Thornlands retail centre that already plays a regular role in local life.
Paradise Garden Shopping Village serves nearby residents with daily retail, food, health and service options. It also offers 1.4 hectares of green space, giving the centre a stronger community feel.
Robert Smith, General Manager Property Management at GEON, said the company was ready to begin work with the centre’s owners, retailers and community.
“We are excited to commence management of the Paradise Garden Shopping Village,” Mr Smith said.
“We look forward to working closely with the landlord, retailers and the local community to further enhance the centre’s performance and customer experience.”
“Neighbourhood shopping centres play an important role within their communities, and our focus will be on strengthening retailer relationships, maintaining a high standard of presentation and creating opportunities to drive customer engagement and visitation.
“Our team is committed to delivering responsive management and supporting the long-term success of Paradise Garden Shopping Village. We see a significant opportunity to build upon the centre’s existing strengths and continue creating a welcoming and convenient destination for local residents.”
Local Impact
The change means Paradise Garden Shopping Village will have a new team overseeing daily operations, tenant support and centre presentation.
GEON will also manage leasing, marketing coordination, facilities and financial matters. This work will shape how the centre is maintained and promoted over time.
For local retailers, the appointment is expected to bring closer management support during the transition and beyond. GEON said it would work with tenants and stakeholders to ensure continuity of operations through the handover.
The centre is anchored by Coles and supported by a mix of convenience, food, fitness, health and service operators. Tenants include Baker’s Delight, BP, Direct Chemist Outlet, Ha’Ne Sushi, Jetts, KFC, Liquorland and Thornlands Doctors.
GEON CEO Dan Moore said the appointment reflected confidence in the company’s growing retail management platform.
“Our client was seeking a proactive, relationship-focused management approach from a team that understands retail property from both an asset management and ownership perspective,” he said.
“As both property managers and active property owners/developers, GEON brings a commercially minded and hands-on approach to asset performance, retailer relationships and long-term centre positioning.
“The client also valued the importance GEON places on trust, communication and day-to-day involvement across its managed assets.”
