Step into a world where art and nature collide, where the Redlands Coast comes to life on canvas. The Redland Art Gallery in Cleveland is now exhibiting an enthralling show honouring the late Brisbane-based artist Gordon Shepherdson. The exhibition, titled “Gordon Shepherdson: Ocean of Eyes,” demonstrates Shepherdson’s intimate connection to the Redlands Coast and his ability to convey its soul via his evocative paintings.

A LOVE AFFAIR WITH NATURE

Gordon Shepherdson’s art was influenced greatly by his two main passions: fishing and painting. Throughout his career, his love of nature, particularly the Redlands Coast, served as a steady source of inspiration. As you walk through the exhibition, you’ll notice Shepherdson’s comprehensive mastery of Moreton Bay’s topography, tides, sky, and landforms. Every brushstroke reflects his enthusiasm for the coastal area, as he brilliantly captures the magnificent panoramas, fragile beaches, and views of landforms that make the Redlands Coast so captivating.

OCEAN OF EYES

The exhibition “Gordon Shepherdson: Ocean of Eyes” was organised in collaboration with Philip Bacon Galleries, Nathan Shepherdson, and Bruce Heiser. On Friday, October 13th, an exclusive celebration was hosted at the Redland Art Gallery in Cleveland to commemorate the launch of this outstanding exhibition. The show opened to the public on Sunday, October 15th and will be on display through Sunday, December 3rd, 2023. During this time, visitors can explore the gallery’s halls and experience the magic of Shepherdson’s art firsthand.

Don’t miss this chance to see the legacy of an artist whose work was inspired by the spectacular beauty of the Redlands Coast.
