Amanda Stoker, a senator for the Liberal National Party (LNP), has been chosen as the party’s candidate for the Cleveland (Oodgeroo) seat in the upcoming Queensland state election. It comes only months after Mark Robinson, the LNP’s long-serving Oodgeroo MP, announced his intention to resign from his seat in Brisbane’s east in June 2024.
CONTROVERSIAL PAST, STRONG LEADERSHIP
Stoker, a former barrister, has held several ministerial positions and has been involved in controversy, including speaking at a pro-life rally and accusing another senator of “inappropriate touching.” LNP leader David Crisafulli commended Stoker’s experience and highlighted Queensland’s growing yearning for change.
LNP’s COMMITMENT TO REDLANDS COMMUNITY
Stoker expressed gratitude for being a part of an LNP team that is prepared to stand up and do the right thing. That begins with delivering on the fundamentals. Despite Labor’s lack of attention, Stoker highlighted her commitment to help the Redlands community, stressing issues such as youth criminality, cost of living, housing shortages, and health concerns.
