Local Impact
These Redland City policing operations are ramping up to address the unique challenges faced by island residents — reinforcing safety and trust across the Redlands Coast.
Crackdown on the Redlands Coast
Despite the postcard charm that the Council has been trying to establish, the Bay Islands are under watch, with police doubling down on drug offences and proactive patrols to protect Redlands’ vulnerable communities.
What The People Say
Detective Inspector Wayne Francis says residents of the Bayside Islands can expect reoccurring policing operations on the islands in addition to regular Jack’s Law wandings to ensure communities are safe and feel safe.
“The islands are unique in being in close proximity to the capital city but almost having a regional policing environment. It’s a key priority for police in Brisbane’s south to ensure our proactive policing presence is seen and felt on both the islands and the mainland to maintain community safety.”
“These operations are an important part of how our specialist police units investigate and disrupt criminal offences on the Bay Islands, such as the supply of illicit drugs to the more vulnerable in our community.
“These operations occur in addition to the day-to-day work police based on the islands conduct.”
