What’s happening?

From Friday, 1 August to Sunday, 3 August 2025, Brisbane’s legendary GreazeFest returns to the Redland Showgrounds in Cleveland, roaring into its 25th year as Australia’s longest-running and most iconic Rockabilly and Kustom Kulture festival.

This full-throttle event promises three jam-packed days of hot rods, vintage fashion, live music, pinup glamour, and kustom art. Proudly presented by Robot Productions, GreazeFest 2025 marks a quarter-century of rockabilly rebellion and is shaping up to be its biggest celebration yet.

“Despite the challenges in the festival scene, GreazeFest has remained a vibrant, authentic celebration of rockabilly and Kustom Kulture,” said Event Director Lori Lee Cash.

Why it matters

In a time when many independent festivals have shut down, GreazeFest stands strong, having carved out a cultural niche that fuses nostalgia with community spirit.

Backed by Revive Live (an Australian Government initiative), the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland, and Redland City Council, the festival is more than an event — it’s a resilient community of creators, collectors, musicians, and enthusiasts from across Australia and beyond.

The 25th anniversary not only celebrates the festival’s survival but highlights its evolution into a national institution for retro lovers and kustom lifestyle devotees.

Local Impact

Held at the Redland Showgrounds on Long Street, Cleveland, GreazeFest brings thousands of visitors to the Redlands Coast each year. The influx boosts local accommodation, hospitality, and retail businesses — with vendors, artists, performers, and fans travelling nationally and internationally to attend.

This year’s GreazeFest Art Show will again support the RSPCA, its long-time charity partner. The 2025 theme is the Road Sign Art Show, featuring over 70 Australian artists who will transform shield-shaped road signs into unique artworks. Painted, milled, rusted, chromed, or sculpted, each piece will be displayed for public voting and available for sale.

Zoom Out

GreazeFest is more than a retro weekender — it’s a celebration of an entire global subculture. Rockabilly began in the 1950s in the US, blending country and rhythm’n’blues through icons like Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash. The movement resurfaced in the 1980s thanks to artists like The Stray Cats and Shakin’ Stevens, who fused vintage music with fashion and modern flair.

Today, that same spirit is alive and well at GreazeFest, drawing passionate fans and newcomers alike into the fold. It’s a living museum of vintage cars, hairdos, tunes, tattoos, and handmade culture — one that continues to thrive with each passing year.
