What’s happening?

Redlands Coast locals are invited to explore sustainable living at the Eco Market on Saturday 5 April 2025, from 8am to 12pm at Redland City Council’s IndigiScapes Centre, 17 Runnymede Road, Capalaba. The market will feature eco-friendly stalls, kids’ activities, family yoga, live music, and community engagement opportunities.

Why it matters

The Eco Market encourages sustainable habits and environmental education. As Mayor Jos Mitchell said, “Choosing everyday products that make a difference helps people and the planet.” The event supports eco-conscious living while highlighting the role of local communities in protecting natural habitats.

Local Impact

The event will feature the IndigiScapes Native Community Nursery, which opens at 8am, offering native plant advice and sales. Division 7 Councillor Rowanne McKenzie said, “You can drop into the nursery for all your native plant needs and advice.” The Eco Market also gives the community a chance to connect with the Council’s Environment Education team and celebrate 25 years of habitat restoration, conservation and education at IndigiScapes.

By the numbers

  • 25 years of conservation and education efforts at IndigiScapes.

  • One morning only, Saturday 5 April, 8am to 12pm.

  • Over a dozen local stallholders offering handmade and sustainable products, including fresh artisan produce.

Zoom In

Children can create seed bombs with Urban Bee Co, pot veggie seedlings from the veggie patch trailer, and enjoy Easter crafts with Wild Flow Wellbeing’s Dani. Mayor Mitchell said, “The local stallholders provide inspiration with their eco-friendly, handmade and artisan products.” Families can also enjoy family yoga and explore the Botanic Garden market lane.

Zoom Out

This year’s market brings an added opportunity to engage with Council’s Disaster Management Team. They will provide updates and speak with the community about the recovery efforts following Tropical Cyclone Alfred. Ranger Stacey will join Bay FM’s live broadcast, welcoming local performer David Hethorn, who will debut his new single alongside a set of feel-good hits.
