Exciting Times for Redlands Coast
Construction has commenced on the highly anticipated Redland Hospital Expansion Project, signalling a significant step forward in enhancing healthcare services for the Redlands Coast community. With a budget of $77.9 million, this project will introduce a new two-story building seamlessly integrated with the existing hospital facility.
Enhancing Capacity and Convenience
Metro South Health’s Expansion Project intends to address the region’s growing need for healthcare services. Chief Executive Noelle Cridland highlights the project’s significance, stating that the expansion will set the foundation for a brighter future. The key components include a new two-story building designed to integrate with the existing Redland Hospital seamlessly. Adding a new Intensive Care Unit and 37 extra beds will significantly increase the hospital’s capacity, ensuring that more Redlands Coast residents can receive the care they need closer to home.
The Bigger Picture
This expansion is part of a comprehensive plan to enhance the hospital’s capabilities, building upon previous investments made by the Government as part of the Queensland Health and Hospitals Plan. The recently announced $25 million modular ward, set to open later this year, will provide an additional 28 beds, further strengthening healthcare services for residents.
Mental Health Matters
Recognising the importance of mental health, the Redland Hospital expansion also includes a $150 million investment in a new mental health facility. This investment will increase the existing capacity by 20 beds, enabling the community to access mental health care at an earlier stage.
Access for All: Satellite Hospitals Program
In addition to these developments, the Redlands Coast community now has access to healthcare services at the newly established Redlands Satellite Hospital. This facility is part of the $377 million Satellite Hospitals Program, ensuring residents have convenient access to quality healthcare.
