Redland City Council has unveiled its 2023-2024 Budget, featuring a significant $4.8 million investment to advance the Council’s Digital Transformation Program. The program, identified as a catalyst project in the Council’s Corporate Plan, is set to revolutionise the way the Council operates and interacts with its constituents while fortifying cyber protection systems.
Mayor Karen Williams emphasised the multiple objectives of the Digital Transformation Program, stating, “It has several goals – to create efficiencies in how Council operates; bolster our cyber protection systems; and improve our interaction with customers.” The program’s implementation is expected to span four to seven years, with the allocated funding in the current budget driving enhanced efficiencies throughout the organisation.
Mayor Williams emphasised the program’s benefits, including cost savings and improved service provision to the community. The initiative will streamline how customers interact with the Council, leveraging emerging methods to create better, easier, and more cost-effective experiences for all stakeholders. Acknowledging the growing complexity of cyber threats businesses and governments face, Mayor Williams emphasised the Council’s commitment to safeguarding private data. “It is your private data that Council is entrusted with, and we consider it a paramount responsibility to protect,” she stated. Safeguarding the software that manages day-to-day activities is crucial for securing the data required to deliver services effectively.
The 2023-2024 Budget, including the substantial investment in the Digital Transformation Program, was unanimously adopted by the Council on Monday, June 26. The Council’s proactive approach to digital innovation and cyber protection reflects its dedication to providing efficient services and ensuring the security of sensitive data entrusted to them by the community.
