Redland City Council has recently received concerning reports regarding unauthorised modifications to the MTB trail features at the Eastern Escarpment Conservation Area. These modifications have been deemed unsafe and pose significant safety risks to riders. The Council is taking immediate action to rectify the situation and ensure the safety of all trail users.
These unauthorised modifications have affected two trails, namely Powerful Howl and Rise Over Run. Recognising the importance of prioritising the safety of riders, RCC crews have already commenced necessary works to improve trail conditions and allow the trails to remain open. However, it is advised that riders exercise extreme caution when using these MTB trails over the coming weekend.
While the Council is diligently working to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the entire trail network, they also request the public’s assistance in identifying potential hazards or concerns. Trail users are encouraged to ride cautiously and remain vigilant for any changes in trail conditions to support their efforts and maintain a safe riding environment. Any suspicious activity, hazards, or concerns should be promptly reported directly to Redland City Council at (07) 3829 8999.
It is important to note that the Council does not monitor or regulate private trail user groups. However, if riders have any questions or require assistance, they are advised to contact the Council directly for guidance and support.
Redland City Council’s unwavering dedication to addressing the safety risks posed by the unauthorised modifications demonstrates its commitment to the well-being of the MTB trail community. By promptly responding to the situation, conducting necessary works, and seeking the support of trail users, the Council aims to ensure that the Eastern Escarpment Conservation Area remains a safe, enjoyable, and thriving destination for all trail enthusiasts.
