Get Ready for the Bushfire Season

Redlands Coast citizens are urged to prepare for the bushfire season by attending one of the upcoming bushfire information sessions starting 6 June. Our unique blend of residential, rural, coastal, and bushland lifestyles increases bushfire risk.

Partnering for Better Preparedness

The Council and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services are joining forces to offer community information sessions. The aim is to increase bushfire awareness and guide residents in preparing their homes and properties.

Information Sessions’ Locations and Timings

  • Capalaba: 6 June and 9 August, 6.30pm-8.30pm
  • North Stradbroke Island/Minjerribah: 15 July, 10.30 am-12.00pm & 2.30pm-4.00pm
  • Coochiemudlo Island: 2 September, 9.30am-11.30am
  • Redland Bay: 14 October, 9.30am-11.30am

Proactive Fire Management: Bayview Conservation Area

On 30 May 2023, a hazard reduction burn will be carried out in the Bayview Conservation Area, Redland Bay. This proactive measure reduces the risk of wildfires and promotes the essential regeneration of native flora.

The Planned Burn’s Location and Purpose

  • The area of 243-271 Days Road has been chosen for the burn.
  • The burn decreases forest litter fuel and promotes natural regrowth.
