Queensland Ombudsman will Investigate Safety Concerns at Teak Lane

The crime rate and the number of safety audits conducted by the Redland City Council at Teak Lane, a scenic pathway connecting residential areas to shops and a tavern in Victoria Point, will be investigated by the Queensland Ombudsman. This investigation comes two weeks after the Redland Council issued an order to remove a lockable gate, which residents believed provided protection against unruly pub customers and nocturnal criminals.

Craig Allen, Assistant Ombudsman, made the announcement of the investigation. He also addressed resident Maria Sealy in a letter, acknowledging that the Council had not addressed the concerns raised by residents regarding the lack of a safety audit conducted on the Teak Lane easement since 2017.
