Redland City Council is championing the vibrant contributions of its youth, recognising their impact on the community’s social, economic, and cultural fabric.
With a commitment to fostering safe spaces for young individuals, the council proudly advocates for their learning, employment opportunities, and active involvement in community life.
Supporting Initiatives: Activate Redlands Coast Youth Week
As a testament to its dedication, the Council offers a funding support program for Activate Redlands Coast Youth Week events.
This initiative invites not-for-profit communities and sporting organisations—both local and external—to apply for up to $2,000 in funding. The goal? To facilitate free events or activities during the week of April 7–13, 2024, tailored to engage and empower the city’s youth.
Fostering Growth and Engagement
The funding aims to support activities that not only offer free entertainment but also enhance the capacity of youth-focused organisations across the Redlands Coast.
Council funding won’t cover operational costs or ventures outside the program’s scope, emphasising its focus on fostering youth engagement.
Criteria for Funding Allocation
Applications are rigorously assessed based on specific criteria.
The emphasis lies on how the proposed event or activity will aid in the capacity building of the youth organisation, ensuring inclusivity for all Redlands Coast young people, and demonstrating a feasible project plan and budget that provides value for money.
Encouraging Accountability and Excellence
Successful applicants are required to complete an acquittal form post-event, offering a comprehensive report that includes project objectives, capacity building, and financial statements.
Failure to comply renders them ineligible for future funding opportunities.
How to Apply
Organisations keen on participating can apply through the Council’s online portal, SmartyGrants.
For assistance or queries, the Community Development or City Sport and Venues teams are readily available.
Activate Redlands Coast Youth Week stands as a beacon of support, enabling young individuals to thrive, participate, and shape a brighter future for Redland City’s dynamic community.
