Council services during public holiday operations

Redland City Council

What’s Happening?

Redland City Council has confirmed public holiday operations for Easter (18–21 April), Anzac Day (25 April), and Labour Day (5 May). While essential services will continue, several council facilities will close or operate under modified hours.

Why It Matters

Residents rely on council services, particularly waste collection, libraries, and animal support. Knowing the adjusted hours ensures better planning during holidays.

Local Impact

Residents can still access critical services like bin collection and emergency support. Libraries and IndigiScapes closures may impact school holiday plans.

By the Numbers

  • 3 public holidays affect services: Easter, Anzac Day, and Labour Day.

  • 3829 8999 is the emergency contact line during closures.

  • 24/7 access to the Cleveland Library Lockers ensures continued book pick-up.

Zoom In

Council offices, customer service centres, and libraries will close on all three holidays. No returns or due dates apply during these periods. However, digital library access remains available. The IndigiScapes Centre, Café, Native Nursery and Botanic Gardens will also be closed. “Walking tracks will remain open,” Council confirmed.

Redland Animal Shelter will be open daily from 9am–12pm, including all public holidays. For help, call 3829 8663 or 3829 8999 after hours.

Recycling and Waste Centres across the mainland and islands will close only on Good Friday. RecycleWorld Redland Bay, typically open Tuesdays and Fridays, will close on Good Friday and Anzac Day.

Bin collection services remain unaffected. “All bin collections will continue as usual on each of the public holidays. Please put bins out by 6am,” Council stated. However, no bin deliveries or exchanges will occur on public holidays.

Zoom Out

Public services in Redland City continue to adapt during holiday periods to meet essential community needs. With increasing reliance on digital services, the continued availability of eResources and the Cleveland Library lockers reflects this shift.
