In a demonstration of their commitment to preserving the Cleveland Aquatic Centre, the Redland City Council has earmarked $416,000 in capital expenditure for renewal works in the current budget year. This allocation is based on a recent condition assessment aimed at ensuring the facility remains in excellent condition for the community’s benefit.
Aquatic Centre Maintenance Plan and Other Details
A comprehensive works program is presently in the planning stages, aimed at addressing various maintenance needs within the aquatic centre. Among the upcoming projects is a refurbishment plan that encompasses the toilets, showers, and entrance to the centre. This refurbishment is strategically scheduled to commence after the September school holidays, minimising disruptions to the community during this bustling period.
Partnership in Sustaining Cleveland Aquatic Centre
It’s important to note that the responsibility for maintaining the centre is a collaborative effort between the Council and the centre’s operator. The operator contributes $55,000 annually toward the maintenance of specific facility aspects as part of their operating contract.
Since 2020, the Council has been conducting annual condition assessments at the centre, consistently investing funds to ensure its ongoing functionality until the time necessitates its replacement. Notably, a significant refurbishment and upgrade project was successfully completed in 2020 as part of this commitment.
Commitment
The council’s dedication to the centre’s maintenance includes a proactive approach to identifying and addressing any maintenance issues in close collaboration with the centre’s operator. This ongoing partnership underscores the Council’s commitment to preserving the Cleveland Aquatic Centre as a valuable community asset.
