South Bank, Brisbane, is set to transform into a vibrant French Quarter from July 1 to September 30, offering Queenslanders a taste of Parisian charm right by the Brisbane River.
This cultural celebration coincides with the excitement building in Paris for the upcoming 2024 Olympics and Paralympics, making it a perfect time for locals to indulge in all things French.
French Culinary Delights
Throughout this three-month extravaganza, South Bank’s top eateries will be serving up a delightful array of French-inspired dishes and drinks.
Indulge in a Kir Royale at Barbossa, or opt for a deluxe cheese board paired with Grey Goose Martinis at The Jetty. For a more lavish experience, Vici offers a bottomless brunch with free-flowing Aix en Provence Rosé and French Martinis, while Fritzenberger impresses with a spectacle involving a melting cheese wheel cascading over fries and burgers.
Cultural Experiences
Beyond cuisine, South Bank will host a variety of cultural activities. Experience roving performances, French-themed picnics, and even a towering four-storey Paris Tower illuminating the Cultural Forecourt.
This homage to the Eiffel Tower will light up in gold, silver, or bronze each time an Australian athlete secures a medal at the Paris Olympics.
Le Festival and More
The highlight of this French immersion is Le Festival, a three-day extravaganza (July 5-7) featuring masterclasses, exhibitions, and over 50 stalls offering French fashion and cuisine. From floral arrangements to perfume making, the festival promises a deep dive into French arts and crafts.
Embrace the French Spirit
As South Bank embraces all things French, visitors can expect streets adorned with red, white, and blue, reminiscent of Parisian bunting and lighting.
Whether you’re sipping French Martinis or enjoying a French-inspired mimosa, South Bank invites you to immerse yourself in its own slice of France.
