Boosting Active Transport: Queensland's $10.5 Million Grant for 40 Projects

The Palaszczuk Labor Government has granted more than $10.5 million to local governments for 40 new active transport projects in Queensland.  This investment is part of Queensland’s Big Build initiative, committing $328 million over the next four years to standalone active transport projects such as bikeways, shared paths, and bridges throughout the state.

The Cycle Network Local Government Grants program supports local government all across Queensland to deliver priority bike routes in their area, helping connect the state on two wheels.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said that every dollar spent on bike infrastructure in Queensland generates nearly five dollars in economic benefits, thanks to improved health, less traffic, and lower transportation costs.
