IndigiScapes Café achieves accreditation, setting a new sustainability benchmark in Redland City.
IndigiScapes Café, nestled within Redland City’s environmental education hub, has clinched a notable feat, emerging as Southeast Queensland’s inaugural Certified Plastic Free Champion under the Boomerang Alliance’s Plastic Free Places program.
Redland City’s Sustainable Vision
This landmark achievement underscores the commitment to sustainability embraced by the Redland City Council.

Redland City Mayor Karen Williams expressed pride in this milestone. “Council’s proactive engagement in this program marks a significant step towards a plastic-free cityscape. We invite other cafes and restaurants in Redlands Coast to join this impactful endeavour,” Mayor Williams affirmed.
Transforming Hospitality Towards Sustainability
The program, spearheaded by The Boomerang Alliance, has aided numerous establishments in eliminating over 25 million single-use plastic items since its inception in 2018.
Katie Barton-Harvey, Program Coordinator, highlighted the program’s adaptability, stating, “We facilitate a seamless transition towards sustainability, guiding businesses to reduce waste and packaging expenses.”
