Redlands Coast, Queensland – In October, Redlands Coast will pay tribute to its senior citizens with an exciting lineup of citywide community events and activities. This initiative, in honour of Queensland Seniors Month, is aimed at fostering social connections among seniors and reducing feelings of loneliness and isolation.
Support and Value for Senior Citizens
Redland City Mayor Karen Williams expressed the Council’s commitment to valuing and supporting senior residents of the region. The Redlands Coast Age-Friendly Action Plan, launched in 2021, serves as a testament to this commitment. Mayor Williams highlighted that the theme for this year’s Seniors Month, “social connections,” perfectly aligns with the goals of the program.
The Council has allocated $8050 from its Seniors Month funding program to assist six local community organisations in organising a diverse range of activities. These activities include arts and crafts, tea workshops, social tennis, a teddy bears picnic, and a wellness and lifestyle “come and try” event.
