Redland City Council Workers to Stage Protest Over Lack of Pay Raise

A group of Redland City Council workers are planning to stage a protest tomorrow, May 5th, in front of the Council’s offices located on Bloomfield Street, Cleveland. The employees have decided to take industrial action to express their dissatisfaction with the lack of a pay raise for almost two years. The Council has stated that it respects the rights of its workers to participate in protected industrial action and assures that it will not discriminate against any employee for their decision to join the demonstration.

Labor Party MP Don Brown has expressed his support for the workers and announced his plan to attend the protest at the Chambers, beginning at 10 am. Brown acknowledges that the Council’s employees have not engaged in any strike action since 1996 and believes that the protest is necessary to raise awareness about their pay grievances. The demonstration serves as a platform for the workers to advocate for their rights and address their concerns, which they feel have not been adequately addressed by the Council.
