What’s Happening?

Community organisations across Queensland can now apply for the State Government’s 2027 Celebrating Reconciliation Grants Program.

The program supports community-led events and activities during National Reconciliation Week, encouraging greater cultural understanding and stronger connections. Applications close on 18 December 2026.

Why It Matters

The grants provide an opportunity for communities to take meaningful action towards reconciliation through activities that promote respect, inclusion and social cohesion.

By supporting local initiatives, the program aims to strengthen relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Queenslanders.

Local Impact

Eligible organisations throughout Queensland can seek funding for reconciliation activities, provided they are based in the state and deliver their proposed events within Queensland.

By The Numbers

  • $100,000: Total funding available through the 2027 program.
  • $2,500: Grant amount available per organisation.
  • 27 May to 3 June 2027: National Reconciliation Week, when funded events and activities must be delivered.

Funding can support a range of community-driven initiatives, including yarning circles, storytelling events, workshops and community gatherings.

These activities offer different ways for people to share experiences and develop cultural understanding, while contributing to the program’s reconciliation objectives.

Zoom Out

National Reconciliation Week is an annual opportunity for Australians to reflect on their shared history and consider meaningful action towards reconciliation.

The week begins on 27 May, the anniversary of the 1967 Referendum, and concludes on 3 June with Mabo Day, commemorating the landmark 1992 High Court Mabo decision.

What To Look For Next?
