What’s happening?
Tomorrow, 20 June 2025, Harry Potter™: A Forbidden Forest Experience will officially open its gates at Sirromet Winery in Mount Cotton, marking its first-ever Queensland appearance. Inspired by the iconic Forbidden Forest from the Harry Potter™ and Fantastic Beasts™ films, this illuminated outdoor trail invites guests to explore a dark woodland brought to life with magical creatures, enchanting lights, and spell-casting moments.
Having already enchanted over 2 million visitors across 9 cities worldwide, the experience now brings its internationally acclaimed magic to Brisbane. From casting a Patronus to encountering Hippogriffs and Dementors, this immersive experience offers families, fans, and first-timers a fresh way to walk through the wizarding world.
Why it matters
This experience offers more than nostalgia—it brings cinematic storytelling and fantasy to life through technology, design, and interactive elements. “Wow wow wow! What a fantastic experience. Thank you for taking us to the world of Harry Potter. Didn’t want to leave,” said visitor Kim R. in April 2024. It’s also a chance for Queenslanders to enjoy a world-class event without leaving the state, with Brisbane hosting Australia’s most feature-rich edition yet.
Local Impact
Mount Cotton’s Sirromet Winery transforms into an immersive forest adventure, expected to draw thousands of Harry Potter fans, families, and tourists into Redland City. Local businesses near the venue, including eateries and accommodation providers, are likely to see increased activity throughout the event’s run. The event’s presence in Queensland boosts local tourism and provides new entertainment for Brisbane’s growing event calendar.
By the Numbers:
-
Over 2 million visitors have experienced the trail worldwide.
-
9 cities globally have hosted the experience, including 160,000 attendees in Melbourne.
-
Duration: Trail walk takes 45–75 minutes, with the full experience running approximately 60–90 minutes.

The Brisbane edition includes exclusive new features, making it the most extensive Forbidden Forest trail in Australia. Attendees will journey through scenes in the chronological order they appear in the films, a feature debuting for the first time in the Brisbane version. New elements include appearances by Harry, Draco, Fang, and a thrilling encounter with a Dementor™️. One standout feature is the Deluxe Bundle, which includes priority access to the main interactive spell-casting moment, a bespoke House Light-Up Lanyard, and three exclusive merchandise items.
Guests can enjoy delicious themed food and drink at the on-site village, and a gift shop stocked with official Harry Potter™ and Fantastic Beasts™ merchandise. Visitor Liz W. shared, “Amazing experience, kids were blown away. Loved the variation across the venue, and very well organised.”

Part of the global expansion of immersive themed attractions, the experience reflects a broader trend in experiential entertainment. From Warner Bros. Studio Tours to Wizarding World-themed destinations, fans are no longer satisfied with just watching—they want to live the magic. Queensland’s inclusion in this global series not only affirms its status as a premier cultural events destination but connects the region to a wider fandom network.
