What’s happening?

Redlands Coast community groups are encouraged to apply for up to $2000 in funding through the Redland City Council’s Seniors Month Funding Program. The program supports events and activities that will run throughout Queensland Seniors Month in October 2025, celebrating older residents and enhancing social connection.

Why it matters

Mayor Jos Mitchell said Council is dedicated to fostering an age-friendly community. “Seniors Month is about celebrating our older residents and recognising their ongoing contributions to the community,” she said.

She added, “Council is committed to supporting an age-friendly community where seniors can lead healthy and fulfilling lives, and where they can contribute in ways of their choosing.”

This grant initiative aligns with the Redlands Coast Age-friendly Action Plan 2021–2026, which outlines strategies to empower seniors to connect, engage and thrive.

Local Impact

Events may be active or passive and are designed to support both energetic seniors and those with limited mobility. Past funded initiatives include:

  • A seniors expo

  • Arts and crafts shows

  • Health and wellbeing workshops

  • Chair games and pickleball sessions

Zoom Out

Queensland Seniors Month 2025 is a statewide celebration that brings focus to the value seniors add across communities. Redland City Council’s program ensures local voices and organisations are part of that wider recognition.

What to look for next?
