What’s Happening?
Federal MP for Bowman, Henry Pike, has announced a $6.2 million investment into Headspace Capalaba if the LNP wins the next federal election. The funding will expand youth mental health services over two years as part of the Coalition’s broader mental health commitment.
Mr Pike said, “For many Redlanders, mental health is a daily battle. Those who struggle are our family, our mates, and our neighbours. This commitment will go a long way to supporting them in their journeys navigating mental health and its place within their lives.”
The announcement builds on Pike’s previous mental health initiatives, including securing the Redlands Medicare Mental Health Centre and backing the reinstatement of 20 Medicare-subsidised psychology sessions.
Why It Matters?
Youth mental health remains one of the most urgent challenges in Australia. Strengthening services through Headspace Capalaba ensures young Redlanders can access early intervention, crisis support, and ongoing care close to home.
Mr Pike stressed the importance, saying, “The Coalition are committed to increasing youth mental health services, providing crisis support, and providing long-term support to help Australians navigate their mental health journeys.”
He urged those struggling to seek help: “Help is at hand, and more available than ever.”
Local Impact
This $6.2 million commitment will expand capacity at Headspace Capalaba, with more youth mentors and support workers to meet growing community needs. Families in the Redlands region will benefit from faster access to mental health support without the need to travel far.
Pike’s efforts continue to deliver tangible outcomes for Redlands locals through improved mental health infrastructure and service availability.

This complements the planned upgrade for Headspace Capalaba, creating a stronger, more coordinated mental health response network for the region’s youth.
